Gaming = Escape
By Robin Barrasford
Gaming is an escape into a world that (in most cases) we wouldn’t get to experience, all in the safety and comfort of our own homes.
Some might criticise the whole thing as silly, but it offers us the chance to escape from the ‘daily grind’… kind of like reading a book.
After a hard day it’s great to become someone else in a game. For me, fantasy and action games are what I love playing the most.
No matter how bland, simplified or complicated the game, or how boring the story is, as long as it is fun to play, then it’s all that matters. Ultimately, the fun factor is what drives gamers to play the game more. That’s why games like Sonic and Super Mario have always remained iconic.
The way games have evolved over the last few decades is amazing, and evolution seems to be happening faster and faster. We’ve gone from ‘pong’ to the full VR experience. From Space Invaders to Euro Truck Simulator. Everything is becoming closer to reality.
Gaming also offers a sense of accomplishment – once you complete a hard level or even the whole game, it’s a feeling that’s almost indescribable.
World of Warcraft is my game of choice and it has been for a long time now, but my love of gaming means I’m willing to try anything!
Gaming is an art form that will continue to grow and evolve…
Keeping gaming!
